ShopSelfish is a woman-owned small business selling quality vintage, handmade clothing and original artworks. This store came from a desire to allow people to indulge in retail therapy while removing the guilt that comes from participating in the toxic and harmful world of fashion. I have often sought comfort and joy from shopping for homewares and clothing, but this joy has been dampened and dimmed by the realities of fast fashion and slave labour.

ShopSelfish seeks to reconnect the customer with the product and process behind their production. Clothing has become generally poorly made, regardless of the price. It has become far more beneficial to commit to vintage clothing from times when garments were produced with more care and with higher quality materials. Some items in store are not vintage, but high quality second-hand. These items are
carefully curated for quality and saved from landfill. Often these items may be
imperfect and Shop Selfish seeks to mend and repair these items to make them
store-quality once again.

ShopSelfish also features the original clothing brand Frivolous. This brand is made
personally by the owner using as many ethically sourced materials as possible.

Further, ShopSelfish offers original artworks created by the owner. These artworks
are all unique and original. The art market has been saturated with prints due to the
ease of manufacturing for sellers. These can be a great option; however, they
require framing. The pieces sold by ShopSelfish are made intentionally for
immediate hanging to prevent the issue of ‘buying yourself a job to do’. Decoration of
a home can be immediate with ShopSelfish with high-impact saturated designs
inspired by spring. These pieces are also intentionally created to suit rented homes
and can be fixed easily to walls using fixing strips.
